Penthouse Gardens, The Fortress, Phylon
High up in the Fortress of Phylon, the lift opens to a garden atrium. The residential sections of the tower devoted to the Cindravale family and their guests rise up all around the patch of water and greenery, but here in the center is an oasis of nature. Sunlight is brought down from above by a cunning array of mirrors, and an electrostatic shield protects the garden from inclement weather. Arched doorways open up to corridors on all sides, leading back to private rooms and penthouses. The garden itself is centered around a fishpond with a sunken area at the middle where the waters are held back by transparent composites. A table and chairs allow people to sit and meet while looking out over the pond from water level. Around the pond are a variety of flowering bushes, shrubs, and trees, creating a fragrant, green preserve in the center of the Fortress.

It is morning within the Penthouse Gardens, and instead of going down for a ride or to practice with lances, Solon has decided that it is a good day to go through some sword routines in one of the more open areas. Getting into a defensive stance, Solon moves through a rapid series of moves that are for parrying an opponent\s attacks before finally pausing in the same stance. Shifting slightly into an offensive stance, he goes through a similar routine before finally pausing. Taking in a deep breath, he pauses his practice to step over to a bench and pick up a bottle of water and take a long drink out of it.

He was at the front a few days ago, but left there after getting a message from back here. And now Sammel enters the gardens through the lift, heading back towards the penthouse he and his wife shares. He looks a bit tired, like he hasn't had too much sleep, but there's also something quite happy about him at the moment, in the lightness of his step, for example. Pausing for a few moments as he sees Solon, he offers his cousin a smile. "Solon."

It's been a while and things seemed to have settled, but Canis has been pondering coming here to speak about something which happened which made the news sort of. He is dressed for travel within the liege house. His own house colors a ceremonial sword at his side even. He pauses only a moment seeing there are a few here but continues onwards "Lord Solon, Lord Sammel good morning." he will greet them each as he gets close enough.

Solon glances over to Sammel, and offers him a nod. "Sammel, how are you? Keeping busy, I trust?" After greeting his cousin, Solon spots Canis approach, he offers the man a smile and a nod. "Lord Canis. Good to see you, may I inquire as to what brings you to Phylon today?" Now that there are people here, Solon picks up a towel that he had on the bench and quickly pats off some sweat from his brow before laying the towel back down. Sheathing his sword, he props it against the bench.

"I'm doing good, cousin. Wait, no, not good, but very good." Sammel replies, before he offers another smile. "And yes, keeping busy. Just got back from the hospital." Turning to Canis, he offers the man a grin, "It is indeed a good morning, Lord Canis." Waiting to hear the man's answer to Solon now.

Canis will nod to the greeting halting his approach. "I did not meant to interrupt, if so I can of course come back another time." he will say looking between both not sure if they had official business though as the other addresses him. "I've been kept busy with duties and patrols, so my first proper chance to visit. I only wish to speak of a rumor I heard tale of a while back." he does look though concerned. "The hospital? I hope all is well?" he will ask.

Raising an eyebrow at Canis, Solon has to inquire about this. "A rumor, my Lord? I admit that when it comes to rumors, I am painfully behind most others." Solon is terrible when it comes to keeping tabs on what the other nobles are doing, perhaps he should rectify this at some point, but with so much else going on it's something he's put on the backburner. Shifting his focus to Sammel, Solon offers his cousin a grin. "Well, cousin, I am glad to hear that things are going so well for you, though why were you in the hospital?" Echoing Canis' question.

"Elodie was brought there while I was out closer to the front lines." Sammel pauses for a few moments. "When both her brother and I came to check on her, she said it was because of something called Hypere… I can't even remember the full name." A brief pause, before he adds, "Some extreme morning sickness, she said." Looking between the two others at the moment.

The knight will look the the heir of the house a hint of worry crossing him. "It was about the Khourni." Canis stops though where his story was going and will look back to the other knight as he besing to speak of his wife being in the hospital. It's far more important then what he had to say, the ruse goes on to the end but at the last words his eyes widen and a smile breaks his face "Lady Elodie, is expecting? Congratulations! That is wonderful news though I hope she feels better soon of course."

Hearing that Elodie has been hospitalized causes Solon to frown. His first thought when Solon mentions 'hyper' is hyperventilating, but when he describes it, his thoughts become slightly muddled and he blinks. "Morning sickness?" The question sounds dumb, but it takes him until Canis makes his comment that it dawns on him. Blinking once, and then again, he reaches out and clasps Sammel's shoulder. "Congratulations, cousin. That is great news, where is she staying? I should go offer her my congratulations as well." Glancing over to Canis, he nods, "Ah, that rumor. I have reached out to the Khourni regarding it."

"Thank you," Sammel replies with a smile to both of the two, before he adds, "She's at the local hospital currently. Hopefully she'll be able to come home soon." A brief pause, before he pauses at the mention of the Khourni, but he doesn't say anything about that yet.

Canis will look back to the heir a moment after he also makes his congratulations and then turns back to him. He knows it's best that he speaks though one might not wish to, holding information isn't good at times like these. "Oh good my Lord, um if you do need any details further. I will be glad to answer, I apologize for not speaking sooner but I was kept to my duties lately." he looks between the both. "I was there that evening." he says simply.

"That is good to know, Sammel. Now is the time that you start convincing her about all of the fine qualities Valen knights have and why he or she should become a knight, yes?" Solon offers his cousin a wide grin at this, knowing full well that he may have to have such a conversation with Eirene at some point in the future. To Canis, he offers a nod. "I am attempting to clear things up through more diplomatic channels, though that is not something that I am publicizing just yet. To be honest with you, Lord Canis, it would not have been much of an issue had they cleared things before they did what they did, but what is done is done."

Sammel smiles, "I'm sure that discussion will happen at some point, Solon." A brief grin, before he nods a little as he listens to the part about the Khourni again. "Sometimes they act before the think things all the way through," he offers, a bit quietly. "They're not that bad, all in all, though."

The young knight nods "Yes a proper Valen, not like myself fighting on foot." Canis will says though he grins slightly it fades only as he turns to answer the heir once more with a nod "I am glad to hear that, though if I may it was no grand plan Lord Nitrim and Myself got an urgent message from a noble who was traveling and got trapped behind a hostile camp. We each only reacted to help her." he explain a little at least to give the general idea.

Solon shakes his head at Canis. "A knight is a knight is a knight. We need knights of all specialties in order to bring the fight to the enemy in the most effective nature. Oh sure, I admit that I have a great fondness for heavy cavalry and the charge, but I take nothing away from those who stand toe to toe with the enemy. After all, we all do that in the end." Solon glances over to Sammel and offers a nod, "Indeed, well, knight or no, you have something to be proud of cousin, and I am happy for you." To Canis, he adds, "As to that, the situation is understandable, though I assure you that feelings would be mixed if we were to mount a rescue operation in the Crescent without giving some notice. As I said before, what is done is done, and all we can do now is smooth things over and focus on our singular enemy, the Hostiles."

"Well, the kid will have a father who fights just as much on foot," Sammel points out to Canis, before he smiles at Solon's words again. "I do. And I'll be proud, no matter what the kid decides to do in life." A brief smile, as he looks between the two others now.

Canis listens to both of them as they speak of the good news "Of course my Lord communication is important, but I will not darken this conversation anymore.” It should be its proper focus he will turn to Lord Sammel. He does grin a bit "Please tell your wife I send my best wishes and congratulations." he says "Also if I can help at all please let me know." he nods to each in turn "I should return to Honor's Keep enjoy the day." with this he will turn and go the way he'd come.

"Nothing to worry over, Lord Canis. I assure you, it is all in the past now." Offering the man a smile, Solon offers a nod when the man says that he is leaving. "Feel free to stop by more often, my Lord. It was good seeing you, and I hope that you have a good day." Glancing over at Sammel, Solon shakes his head. "First Niko and now you. Oh and Erik too. I swear, the three of you are going to have my mother hurrying me along here soon enough!"

"I will, Lord Canis. It was a pleasure to meet you again. Take care." Sammel says this, before he offers a grin to Solon. "Oh, I don't doubt that Aunt Kallista would be hurrying you along no matter what, Solon. And I know you know that's true too." A brief pause, before he adds, "Hopefully both Niko's girl, Erik's boy and our kid will have strong family ties, even though they all have different family names."

"I do." Solon sighs, "Though there always seems so much to do. Over the last couple of years, I have come to appreciate just how much she depends on Uncle. I have come to think that when it comes time for me to step up, I will need to depend on family as well. Anyway," Solon pauses for a moment to reach up and run a hand through his hair, "out of curiousity, what are you and Elodie hoping for? A little boy or girl? Either way, I am half-tempted to tell you to encourage the little one to follow in Elodie's footsteps. The Six know that we could use more with her medical skills running around doing good for people."

Sammel smiles, nodding a little bit. "I hope you know you can depend on us, Solon." At the question, he pauses for a few moments. "I don't think we've ever said anything about that. The most important thing is that there is a kid, after all. And yes, someone to follow in her footsteps might be a good idea."

Solon shakes his head and offers his cousin a small smile, "Oh, there has never been doubt about whether or not I can depend on the two of you Sammel. In fact, I have been toying with incorporating your favored weapon into a much larger scheme. Given that combat on foot with our lances is out of the question, having a unit of men who can use your poleaxe to charge in, deal substantial damage to the enemy and then dismount and use the same weapon on foot to great effect is something that I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on."

"Well, it's not really a weapon meant for horseback, but I've found that securing it to the saddle, then using a lance from horseback, before dismounting and using the poleaxe is quite effective," Sammel replies, after a few moments of pause, before he offers a grin now. "You know Niko would throw a tantrum if he heard you now, right?" Said a bit lightly, before he tries to hold back a yawn. "I guess I should try getting some rest. And I need to check that Douley's doing okay, as well. And then back to the hospital in a while."
