Gardens of Erkwin, Landing, Imperius
While the Arborenin may like their greenery wild and lush, the Gardens of Erkwin are carefully and precisely manicured, even if they are no less green for all the attention they have received at the clippers of gardening drones. Broad expanses of grass are trimmed to exactly the same height, grown to exactly the same verdant shade. Hedges are neatly clipped back into exacting shapes. Some form mythical creatures, others living statues of famous historical figures, and one section even rises in geometric patterns to create a hedge maze. Between the hedges and lining paths of crushed gravel are beds full of flowers from all over Imperius — and before that, from all over Old Earth.

As beautiful as the gardens are, however, all of the paths lead through them toward the stadium on the water's edge. A final parade of flags draws the attention of most onlookers up toward the bulbous blue shape of the stadium's half-roof, which is lit from within by the glow of the lights when a tournament is taking place or a soccer game being played.

July 5th, 3013: Evening

Once out of the Siren, Johana realizes too late she should have
kept the shirt from Vic when she sees the lateness of the hour
and the ever so slight chill in the air. Still, she is wearing a
one shouldered dress, so one of them is left bare. For now, she
doesn't seem to be effected by it though and she offers a smile
at Kaedin. "It was generous of you to see me out, I think I will
just go to the garden for a walk. You are welcome to join me if
you wish."

Kaedin smiles as he walks with her, getting his weapon from where
it was being held, a six foot bastard sword that has to be
strapped to his back. "A walks sounds nice, I've been sitting for
abit to long, that and the fresh air will help clear out what
bit of beer I've drank." he says as he moves to walk next to
her." The ring is nice an all, being home, but something about
fresh air and an open sky appeals to me." he says with a smile.

Rarely is Johana unarmed, but tonight she certainly is, for her
sword would not match her dress so well. Holding her small clutch
of a purse in her hand, she strolls along side Kaedin as she
leads him towards the garden. "Where did you learn to play such a
talented game of Solo? I thought surely you'd be the one
discarding a shirt by the time it was over. "Have you been out on
any of the patrols against the Hostiles?"

Kaedin smiles. "I have a bunch of cousins, and two younger
brothers, let's just say if you get your ass handed to you
enough, you learn a few things." he says as he walks along with
her, occasionally looking up at the night sky. 'it's hard to see
the stars in the city, the lights offset them, I prefer a forest,
where you can see the whole galaxy, heck, on some nights I can
see occulus." he says with a smile as he tilts his head. "A few,
nothing came up. I haven't went toe to toe with a Hostile, though,
not from lack of trying… I feel, such eagerness, and half rage to
fight them, I feel sorry for the first one I come across."

"I have a twin brother who is almost seven feet tall and
outweighs me twice over, almost." Johana smiles as she envisions
it. "His name is Barton and I think he is about to get betrothed
to Talayla Orelle." Glancing up at the sky, searching for stars,
she lifts her bare shoulder. "Honestly, at the Crescent there are
no stars. More like the acrid smell of smoke and fire from the
Volcanoes. Though Obsidia has more greenery than the southern
area, it's really lovely. Fierce and rugged." When he mentions
fighting a Hostile she turns her attention from the sky to him.
"Be careful when you do. They are hard to strike down and they
have fierce hits. Just aim towards the neck and keep slashing.
Trust me on that, I've killed over a score of them."

Kaedin looks at her. "I've waded into a battle with my sword, and
cut down men, I've hunted scouts and silenced them, and I've
hunted big game. I'm as ready as I'll ever be." he says, a look
of fierce determination on his face. "But that will come soon
enough, and I know about your brother and my cousin, I think it's
a good match." he says with a nod as he continues walking. "I'll
be putting forward alot more effort for combat, even if it's so I
can bring that knowledge back to the Ring to train our knights
and soldiers. Hell, I might ask Cedric if I can join a group of
marines when he takes his ramship into combat."

Hearing his accomplishments, Johana nods, understanding what the
hunger to fight the enemy is like, especially with the recent
invasions. "Just… be careful when you do. And if you ever want
to spar, there's the barracks or the gym at Volkan. Just come
look me up and we could get some practice with our swords in."
Him speaking of her brother and his chosen bride makes her smile.
"I think they will be happy, Barton and the Lady."

Kaedin smiles as he looks at her. "I've been looking for a
skilled sparring partner, mostly to help quell my spirit. I can;t
spent time out in the wilderness much, not with my needing to be
in contact wit the hostile threat coming at us, and most of the
people I spar are years behind me in skill." he states as he
looks her over. "If you're up for the job, then I wouldn't mind a
spar, or a hundred." he says, yes, an Orelle talking about
spirit, though, he isn;t religious in any sense of the word,
there is a bit of nature like spirituality to him. "They deserve
each other, and they deserve happiness.' he says with a smile.
"I'll be careful, I'm sort of a quick hitter with a powerful,
and long reach, but your concern is touching." he says, placing a
hand to his heart in a mock swoon.

Johana rolls her eyes at his mock swoon and gently nudges him
with her arm. "It's just… There is nothing you can do to
prepare to fight a Hostile because once there is one before you,
and you're fighting it and no matter how many times you hit it,
it doesn't fall… Yes I know I sound monotonous, but it's true
and if you would allow the spars, then I'm definitely all for it.
I'm not the best, but I know how to fight a Hostile." Thinking of
her brother and his soon betrothed, she smiles, but she says
nothing further about them. "Have you ever been in any
tournaments?"

Kaedin smiles. "I know, cybernetic augmented to feel no pain,
plus they had a metallic exoskeleton or some such." he says and
smiles at her. "Well, you ARE better to look at then an ass ugly
hostile, hell, you're better to look at then alot of people." he
says, but when she brings up the tournament he kinda shrugs.
"When I was newly knighted, my uncle wanted me to be in
tournaments, i won some melee on foots, I think I made second
place in a joust and once third in archery." he states.

"Yes, they are.." Johana agrees to his conclusion about the
Hostiles, letting that drop as well for now. She looks around the
garden briefly as if just remembering they are there. When he
compliments her though, she smiles. "Thank you. Do you know how
difficult it is for a female Heir to find someone who would be
willing to change his name and to move to the Crescent? Only
one has even said he would think about it, though he prefers
going… slow about things." Perhaps Ana has had a little too
much to drink.. Then she gets back on track with the discussion.
"Tournaments are always nice to participate in. A little glory, a
little fun."

Kaedin nods. 'It's a chance to see how you rank among other
knights, without the whole noble born or citizen board or house
affiliation actually coming into play, just skill and talent." he
says, though about what she said earlier. "Who ever wouldn't is
ether a fool or thinks to highly of himself to be of any real
use. I mean, the only real reason to stay with a paramount family
is for position, I'm not a knight lieutenants, and my mother was
born to years to late for me to be house heir. So long as I get
to defend the haven system, and maybe the occasional hunt,
marriage into another family wouldn't bother me." he says with a
smile to her.

"That's true, it is a way to see how you rank among others."
Johana continues to look around the garden for a moment before
looking back at Kaedin with a surprised smile. "Thank you for
saying so. You give me hope." For a moment she looks as if to say
something, but instead, she inputs it with other words instead.
"I need to get home for now, but it was a pleasure getting to
know you more, Sir Kaedin, truly."

Kaedin nods and smiles. 'The pleasure is mine, send me a vid call
should you have time for sparring practice, I'm always in the
Rings Training facilities if I don;t have more pressing
matters." he says, or get invited out by a flirty woman who
leaves just as he is about to win…

"I'll do that, Sir Kaedin," Johana winks, turning for the exit.
"See you soon then. Bring your A-game." And with that, she blows
him a kiss cause hey, he wanted Reena's!
