Melysa Nichols was born in the underworld and that's where she died. There's a lot more to the story than that, but the ending is always were the most sought after to know. Of course, we're all born dying, it just takes some longer to make that journey. Melysa was a young woman of debt, inherited from her older sister after the older sister disappeared with one of the visitors to the Brothel she worked in. Melysa who worked only sporadically and proved to cost more than she was worth. Her life was snubbed in the blink of an eye with no hesitation and no regret.
That was Mila's first job, the test by LucCorp. Since then, she has proven to be effective and an asset to the corporation. It's not a lifelong dream to be an assassin for most folks, or to even consider that option as an occupation when you're a kid. Mila though, had an unusual upbringing. Her father Roman Kotov was a soldier and a Knight. He wanted his daughter to follow in is footsteps.
Currently he works for the syndicate, for Jonathan Lucian in particular as a mercenary. He deals in the more high profile cases. But that hasn't always been so! When she was young, he was a knight and highly trained in his skills, he was intent that his daughter would be able to defend herself against the more unsavory types, as well as making sure she always had choices as to what she would be. He treated her as a page and a squire.. until she went to the academ to become a doctor. She lasted there until she got a masters degree, but got semi-distracted midway through when her father started working for LucCorp and had to buckle down and concentrate. Thus, her psychometry slacked considerably.
From a young age, he trained her with the dagger and other various blades, ranging from switchblade knife up to a longsword and in between. They'd go to the gym, to the Salle, practicing skills in his free time. He rarely had free time because with that particular title job, you work until the job is done. His wife, Natalya, Mila's mother, is awakened and spent a lot of her time off by herself or with her own mentor, practicing her own awakened abilities.
Roman has always been a doting father, his daughter always getting everything he wanted her to have, that was within his financial boundaries, and he often times made good money. She was afforded lessons in martial arts at the Salle, excelling at competitions at a young age. When she turned ten, her awakened abilities were discovered. Her mother took her turn with her then, mentoring her patiently, caring for her and teaching her about her ability. How to center herself, to focus, and to draw out her psychometry at will and how to control it and herself, so she wasn't a danger to those around her, or even herself.
As she aged, Mila found she was adept at being secretive, stealthy and tracking. Her father only encouraged her, determined to assist his only child in something she could manage that would assist her in being useful as a fighter. If she was useful, she would always have a job, in her father's opinion. Her parents made sure she attended her schooling and she learned much beyond the usual mathematics and biology. She learned medicine at the Academ, though she graduated, she had no desire to be a doctor, as a profession, (not any longer) but it does aid her as does biology, in learning how to end life as well as save it. Instead, she now works as a bodyguard, namely citizens of high profile within the underworld, or within the realm of the Orelle and vassals.
More sinister, when she is called in for her real work as an assassin, Mila uses her mother as an excuse for her sudden disappearance, since her mother has been reclusive much of her life as she leaves out into the woods on occasion to practice her hermetic magic. Her other excuse is photography, and that gets her into and out of different places she might otherwise lack. Currently, she is working as a bodyguard for musician, Cecily, who basically sold her soul to Lucian for the chance to be a star. Lately, her albums have been bombing on the charts and her sales have slipped considerably. A reminder of the debt the musician owes? Possibly.. or more likely, protecting his investment, in hiring the bodyguard. Either way, it pays well enough to keep her happy, and added with the funds for the hits, she lives comfortably. Her mother continues actively training and mentoring her in her awakened abilities.
