Grand Esplanade — Landing, Imperius
Although the Grand Esplanade is centered on a double lane for ground vehicles and carriages, the majority of the broad street is held for pedestrian use. Smooth pavement extends out around planters that keep vehicle traffic away from people on foot, exposing a broad expanse to the feet of passers by.

The Esplanade leads past scores of little hole-in-the-wall shops and kiosks selling everything from daggers to scarves to jewelry. Light posts are interspersed with the planters, casting a warm glow over the Esplanade at night, while electrostatic shields blur the skies but keep off any rain from above, leaving the Esplanade crowded day or night, rain or shine.

Towering over the Esplanade to the west is the shimmering steel spire of the Citadel, while the Gardens of Erkwin and the Landing Stadium lie to the east. Directly north is the magnificent Palace Towers, seat of House Sauveur.

June 4th, 3013

Lorelei knows there's garden's around here , somewhere! She left after dinner had been over, her duties done for the night. She's dressed in a pink dress, casual, and has a small book in her hand. She makes her way down the road, a pen can be seen tucked behind an ear. All very low tec. She doesn't look nearly as panicked as the last time Taryn saw her, but she still looks a bit lost.

Taryn is walking southward from the Palce Towers, where he has been working with Soleil's cantankerous horse. He sees a familiar face and likewise a familiar expression. With a slight skip in his step, Taryn moves towards Lorelei, "You know… If I recall correctly, the first time I met you…" He pauses and smirks, "Which was about twenty five feet away… you had that same lost look… "

Lorelei looks up and smiles, "I do not!" but she's laugh, so she knows she probably does. "ow are you this evening Taryn?" She'll step out of the middle of the street , so they can speak. She'll glance around, a smile tugging at her lips as she realizes they pretty much are in the same place.

Taryn chuckles softly, as they move from the middle of the thoroughfaire. "So what pray tell are you looking for this day?" He looks at her, grinning, through the veil of curly blond hair. The mirth in his eyes undeniable.

Lorelei tilts her head, jutting her chin slightly. Instead of looking like she knows where she's going, it just kinda looks adorable. "I was looking for inspiration, if you must know." She'll then smile, "The Gardens." She'll shift the book to her other hand, "What are you doing out? I figured you'd have gotten lost back to the pub again." she has no idea if he actually does frequent bars, but he made the joke last time.

"If it were only a pub." Taryn says. "Pubs are places where people sit to enjoy themselves.. a good drink… conversation… maybe a bite of food.. and maybe some music that isn't so loud you can't hear yourself think.. No the place that I kept finding myself outside its door is nothing like that…" He grins, "Well, inspiration can be found all about, and I can't help you find it…" He grins impishly, "Unless I am what inspires you, then your quest is complete." He muses, "There are many gardens here… but I think I know the ones you are meanin' and they aren't that far away…" He grins, "I could show you… either that or stand here and watch you pass me by a few dozen times over the next hour."

Lorelei giggles at Taryn's description of his magnet location. She'll laugh out loud then, shaking her head, "I imagine you could inspire a whole book. And I am not looking to write a novel." Neither confirming nor denying that he could be inspiration, jut that she's not writing that much. She'll start to nod, glad that he's offered to help her again, until the tease at the end. She'll take the book in her hand, and while there's no real force, at aall behind the hit, she does move to swat at him with it. It's hard to take the swing serious as she'll giggling as she does so.

Taryn laughs and behaves as if he has been beaten most mercilessly. "Alright! Alright! I yield you brute!" He chuckles, "I'm certainly glad you write in that small thing and not some great tome.. I'd surely be done for." Taking a step back from her, out of book swinging range at least, "So.. just to be clear.. you do actually want me to show you the way to the gardens?" He says with that impish grin of his dancing across his lips.

Lorelei puffs up slightly. All 5'2" of her and will place the book against her hip. She'll shake her head, but is trying to not laugh. "A brute? Really?" Her eyes go a bit wide and she huff slightly, "Yes!I want to go to the Gardens." Blushing slightly , she giggle again, "It's nice to just be able to talk without having to tack on Sirs and My Lady's all day."

Taryn looks at Lorelei, "Yes a brute," nodding for emphasis. He tries to look all serious, but likewise, it's hard for him to keep a straight face. "Well, if you promise not to hit me anymore.. I'll show you." He chuckles, "Yeah tell me about it… try being around Sauveurs… I think half the time I'm bowing to servants who are enjoying the fact that I don't know who is who." He grins, "Come on.. It's really not that far… " That grin grows slightly, "You might have even found it on your own…"

Lorelei rolls her eyes. Her, a brute? She'll sigh, nodding. "I guess I'm lucky, Arboren isn't that bad, but they're all wearing weapons and I don't know who's a knight versus someone else and …" She'll shake her head. "I think Eilara asked me to be her handmaid just because I didn't know all of that." And then she'll grin, "And I can braid hair faster than just abut anyone." It's a silly boast, she knows. She'll huff again, "Be nice, or it's the book again!" For emphasis she'll lift it up at him. Look out Hostiles, Loree's got a book!

Taryn walks with his hands tucked behind his back, as he looks over at Lorelei, "So why exactly are you looking for inspiration?" He spins on his heels and walks backwards as he waits for her response.

Lorelei stops threatening Taryn with the written word and will look down at the small book in her hand, "I promised myself I would write everyday, but…with everything that's happened, I've fallen behind." Raising a shoulder in a half shrug, "I don't want to write about Hostiles or what's coming anymore. We all know. I want to write things to remind us of what's to come after." Bringing her eyes up as he starts walking backwards, she'll raise an eyebrow, "Now you tell me something about you." She has a playful smile, she's probably not asking where any bodies are buried.

Taryn smiles with a shrug, "Well… there really isn't much to tell. I'm really pretty boring." Less than a block away from where he found Lorelei, "And here we turn… and the gardens are just a little bit down this road." He looks over at Lorelei, "I'm sure that just about anything is more interesting than me."

Lorelei 's smile drops some, "Oh…ok." If he doesn't want to say anything, that's ok. She'll look to where he's saying the Gardens are. she'll look back from where they came, trying to get a mental map in her head. She'd like to be able to make it home. She'll let her eyes land on Taryn as she turns back. She studies him for a moment, head tilted, almost like she's trying to figure something out.

Taryn cocks his head slightly, "What do you want to know?" He shrugs, "I don't really know what to say.. I'm not trying to be intentionally difficult… You pretty much know all the exciting things about me… and by exciting, I mean not utterly boring… "

Lorelei looks up to him for a few more seconds, eyes wide, and just responds with a smile, "Ok. You're a stable hand, you like to eat meat, and have an internal compass to a gross bar." She gives an exaggerated shrug, clearly she has siblings. Blinking a few times, her tone is teasing, "Are you coming with me to see the Gardens, or is your utterly boring live going to make you go do something else?"

Taryn chuckles, "I never said it was gross… in fact the building is nicer than any in all of Briarford… It's just not my kind of place." He reaches up and brushes the hair from his eyes once again, "Well, let's see… I am a lousy cook…and the only time I have ever really felt like I was happy, you know completely and utterly, was when I was riding at near full tilt across the grasslands of Ares… " He pauses, "And I have never been anywhere but the Vale until I came here to Landing." As he starts walking Lorelei down the path, "I can stay for a few minutes, but unfortunately I do have things to do…"

"See?" Loree'll tilt her head, her smile going from teasing to genuine, "Was that so hard?" As they walk, the spine of the book is fingered lightly, "You should come to Arboren. I think you'd like it." Nodding about the Gardens, "It's ok. I promise. I can look at flowers on my own without getting lost."

"Harder than you think." Taryn looks at her for a moment. There is for but a second a shadow of a secret that is hidden in his eyes. In little time, the two are entering the flower filled sculpted gardens. "From what I have heard, I think that I would as well. I have a standing invitation by Lord Aidan Peake to come visit his family's holdings and one from Lady Sir Agnes Peake to come and visit her horse while she is away aboard one of the naval ships." He pauses and looks at notices the time. He sighs and offers a slightly flourished bow, "Alas, I am afraid that I will have to trust that you will not get lost amongst the flowers… that thing that I need to tend to needs to get tended to about fifteen minutes ago." With an apologetic smile, Taryn dashes off, leaving Lorelei at the garden's entrance. Once he is just a bit away that jog turns into a full blown run as he mutters an admonishment of himself for losing track of time. As he disappears from sight, his voice offering apologies to the various people that he nearly runs over can be heard fading away.
