Background

Ithaca Black was never what you would call "normal." She was born to a prostitute and an unknown father on the Ring, and in general born into her mother, Nysa's debts. Nysa had become a worker at one of the LucCorp brothels to pay off a debt for her red eye habit, a habit she passed on to her daughter in utero. Ithaca can only blame herself for the AMP, the booze, and the cigarettes though. By the age of 3 the child showed hints at being an Awakened, which Nysa did not know how to cope with. She buried herself under a haze of drugs and alcohol to pretend Ithaca was normal.

Nysa died of an overdose when Ithaca was 8, and thus began her training by the Syndicate. Making her a prostitute like her mother was out of the question. Not only was the girl utterly antisocial, barely speaking, or showing any sort of emotions at all, she also had a near complete lack of conscience and a dislike of most things that breathed. She did, however, have a brilliant mind when it came to mathematics and computers, and House Lucian saw that she would be an ideal hacker. And they discovered she was Awakened.

She went through rigorous Hermeticism training from 8 to 14, showing incredible aptitude for it. Next she was trained in thievery of the stealthy sort, and taught the vast variety of old and new security systems from 14 to 18, showing a real talent in math and computer work. At 18, Ithaca was employed - if you can call it employment - to pay off her mother's debts, and the ones she herself accrued through her own addictions. She was given an "official" position in LucCorp, doing security systems analysis for the businesses under their umbrella, and did illegal work for them off the books — hacking, stealing, disabling security systems for more talented B&E specialists, and using her Awakened talents to assist her.

Now 28, she is a pierced, tattooed, flashback to the punks of old earth, never without a computer device, and as oddly behaved as ever. She is an addict to many things, but has somehow managed not to die from any of them, like her mother did.

Characteristics

Description

This diminutive woman has pale skin and brown hair, with blonde highlights. It's a mid-length, shaggy mane that looks like she cut it herself with a dull pair of scissors. It has a natural, bedhead wave to it that refuses to be tamed. She has dark eyes that look older than her years, which are most likely late 20s. She's in a ratty, faded "Hell If I Know" shirt, with worn leather pants and an old, battered leather jacket. Heavy black boots are on her feet.

Quirks

Recovering Addict: Ithaca went through rehab, and now she's pregnant. It's rough, but she's doing her best.
Indebted to Lucian: Between her own debts, and those of her deceased mother, Ithaca works for next to nothing for LucCorp in a modern sort of indentured servitude.
LucCorp Security Analyst: This is a fancy title for hacker and B&E specialist. She has a day job and can be called to work by them whenever they want.
Sociopath: Dissocial personality disorder. Look it up.
Thief: She's a practiced thief, and only her association with the Syndicate has kept her out of prison.
