25 September 3013 — Sean's Loft

The band gets back into the main room and take up their seats, Sean pulls his chair over for Peny to sit and watch them. They turn and whisper and agree on one of the more upbeat pieces that he's had help writing. After a time, they are all ready to start. Sean strikes the first cord, then the whole band starts to sing "Whoooaa ooh oh oooooooh" and they start to play a definitely more upbeat piece. Sean's voice comes on, more neutral sounding, "Halfway gone, I'm halfway gone."

You were always hard to hold
So letting go ain't easy
I'm hanging on, you're growin' cold
While my mind is leaving

Talk, talk is cheap
Give me your word… you can keep

The band strikes up a faster tempo and adds in more rock as they play. Sean stands, tapping his foot to the beat, swaying slightly with the music as he starts singing the chorus.

'Cause I'm halfway gone, and I'm on my way
And I'm feelin' feelin', feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone

The music continues for a moment, then drops in volume a smidge as Sean's neutral sounding half-talk half-singing voice comes back.

You were one foot out the door
And choking on the other
Always thinking somethin' more… is just around the corner
Talk, talk is cheap
Give me your word, you can keep

The band picks right back up into the fast pace of the music as Sean's voice, accompanied by a couple of the others, gets its stronger timbre to it again:

'Cause I'm halfway gone, and I'm on my way
And I'm feelin' feelin', feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone

If you want me out, then I'm on my way
And I'm feelin' feelin' feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone

Peny's eyes alight as she seems to realize just who this song is about. There's a slightly smug smirk on her face, as she listens to the lyrics. Sean smiles as his sister, then looks back at the other band members who are all really into the quick tempo and up beat sound.

I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
Now I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone
Don't take too long
Don't take too long
'Cause I'm on my way
If you take too long

They all really get into it, and even Peny can't help but stand and start to dance to the song. She bops and sways, eyes closing to just listen and feel the music flow into her heart. One of those songs that just sinks in and really sings to you.

'Cause I'm halfway gone, and I'm on my way
And I'm feelin' feelin', feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone

If you want me out, then I'm on my way
And I'm feelin' feelin', feelin' this way
'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long
'Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone

'Cause I'm halfway gone, yeah I'm halfway gone
'Cause I'm halfway gone, yeah I'm halfway gone

The song ends and they all just smile and calls of "Fuck yeah" come from a couple of the members. Highfives go around and Peny walks over to hug her brother. "That song, totally awesome… and it fits so perfectly." She kisses his cheek, and pats his chest before stepping back, "Okay, I wanna hear something slow now, something like the first one. I wanna see Sean while he sings it." And Sean turns to speak with the band about one of the ones they'd decided to practice.
