The Gardens of Nora
While these gardens act as the courtyard between the Heartwood and the Elder Seat, they have managed to obtain a peaceful ambiance despite all the foot traffic. There is a gently angled esplanade that leads up from the Heartwood, interrupted here and there by short segments of stairs. When it reaches the main promenade of the gardens, it flattens out and continues to provide a pathway directly toward the grand doors of the Elder Seat.

Flanking either side of the esplanade are parcels of well-kept garden that are divided by smaller pathways that lead off from the main esplanade. These parcels vary between thick carpets of moss and forest flowers to clusters of wild roses to a very small orchard of fruit trees that bear red apples and pale peaches in the summer. Natives and visitors alike are encouraged to wander throughout the Gardens of Nora — named for the first High Lady of Arborenin, the daughter to Hugh Arboren — but there are also Arborenin guards who equally frequent the area.

Lorelei's under her apple tree. She looks sleepy, rubbing her face slightly, her legs tucked her. her tablet i open in her lap, although the document is blank. An uneaten peach is in her lap as well.

With an earplug in one ear, and connected to some kind of music playing device, Tristan makes his way along the garden, humming a bit to himself. Looking around, he spots Lorelei, heading over in her general direction now, with a bit of a smile. One hand moving as if playing some keyboard chords on an invisible instrument.

Lorelei finished rubbing her face, her eyes blinking to clear the fuzzy eye sight. Giving a sigh she look around, once she sees Tristan she'll smile lightly, tilting her head as he comes closer.A small soft giggle escapes her, "Playing something good, Lord Tristan?"

"Would I listen to anything not good?" Tristan replies with a grin now, before he adds, "It's a bit of a mix of stuff, really. This song was by Opportunity Nox." Taking out the device, and setting it to pause, he smiles. "How are you today?"

Lorelei laughs and nods, "Oh…of course not." she'll shake her head lightly and looking up at Tristan, "I'm…ok. sleepy, but I guess that's just how it's going to be. I've been asked to rite another poem for House Iah….but I'm not sure what to do yet… How are you today?"

Tristan smiles, "That's good news, isn't it?" That to the part about having been asked to write another poem. "Any particular occasion, or do they just like your poems?" A brief grin at the question about how he is, and he looks around very briefly, before he grins, "Not bad, not bad. Trying to come up with an idea, though."

Lorelei shrugs slightly, "I…guess?I mean, I'm very happy they like my poetry. Just every time, I'm nervous that I'm going to end up …staying there?"she's not sure if that even makes sense…"Lady Elodie and Lord Sammel have become betrothed. Lady Iah has asked if I would write something for the wedding. I'm just…I've never been to a wedding like that…It's hard to imagine something like that, I guess." She's smiling softly, a bit of a far away look in her eyes before she focuses back on Tristan, "Oh!An idea for what?"

"We'll have to make sure they'll let you go back afterwards, then," Tristan replies, a bit lightly. "And yes, I heard about that betrothal. And what I'm trying to come up with an idea for has to do with similar stuff, since there'll be a sister-in-law soon. Thought I'd come up with some kind of a welcome to the family thing…"

Lorelei laughs softly, tilting her head at the noble, "Oh..so you'll send a search party? That's nice to know. Although it'd be nice if the house I worked for liked my poetry, instead!" It's not said mean, but with humor. Quirking an eyebrow from where she's sitting on the ground, "what are you plotting?" she's used to that look from Eilara….

"That would be the best, yes. And some of us like it," Tristan replies, before he shrugs a little. "Well, I was thinking a nice little prank to make her feel part of the family sounds like a good idea. I'll have to think a bit on what, though."

Lorelei mock frowns, "Some?.."She'll giggle softly, "Have you ever even read any of it?" She wouldn't put it past Eilara to show people. Her head tilt and eye narrow become real, "A prank with music?…don't drive her away." Loree's sitting underneath her favorite apple tree, looking up at Lord Tristan.

Chiron wanders into the garden. He has on his green hooded cloak and a brown button-up shirt. He doesn't seem to be going anywhere in particular, just enjoying the scenery. His eyes wander to Lorelei and Tristan under the apple tree. He waves a the two of them, his footsteps quickening, walking towards them. As he gets closer he gives Tristan a short bow, and waves to his sister. "Lord Tristan, Sparrow, how are the two of you this evening?"

Tristan smiles, "Some of them, I've read." A brief pause, before he adds, "And I would never want to drive her away. If so, I'm sure that Mother and Declan would conspire to have me wed to someone, after all." Spoken a bit lightly, before he offers a nod and a smile to Chiron. "Hello. I'm doing quite well, thank you."

Lorelei blushes some at Tristan's admittance of reading her poetry."Well…I'm sure you'll be betrothed at some point. You may want to behave, or you'll end up on a moon." she'll tease the Noble some. looking to her brother, "Oh! Chiron, hello!" Loree looks as if she's not slept again, but looks to be in good spirits.

Keanen wanders into the garden, moving rather indirectly to one of the large apple trees. His path is a bit staggered, his walk clearly less than sober. He reaches the tree, and swipes at it a few times, knocking off a bit of bark as he laughs. And then, with a hobbled step, he hops up, grabbing a low branch, swinging a moment, and then pulling himself up into the tree. He climbs a couple branches upward, reaches out with his cybernetic hand and plucks a green apple from the limb. And then, just as gracefully, he slips out of the tree, falling to the ground and landing on his butt with an, "Oof!" A second later, the apple falls and hits him on the head. And then he just laughs.

Chiron looks up as Keanen begins to climb the tree, raising an eyebrow. He turns back to the other two, "That's good to hear, Lord Tristan." He says with a smile. He gives his sister a concerned look, but doesn't say anything about how she looks. "How did today go, Sparrow? Any nobles being particularly difficult?" He says with a wink, and gives another confused look to Keanen as he jumps off the apple tree.

"Probably, but I'm allowed to hope it's not going to happen, or at least not for a long long time, right?" Tristan answers lightly to Lorelei, as he glances around, spotting Keanen now. "And how is your day going?" he asks to Chiron, while watching his brother doing the climbing that's finished off with a proper butt landing. "Need to work on the landing," he calls out, a bit lightly. Sounding a bit amused.

Lorelei's smile drops as Keanen does his climbing bit. Blinking a few times, but then turning back to the noble talking to them, offering "Well, I should hope that it wouldn't be that bad. Perhaps it will even be nice?" Giving her brother a small grin, "today was fine. I'm trying to work on the poem fro House Iah….it's harder than I thought…"

Keanen sits there laughing a moment, and then he sways a little, "Whoooo!" He laughs again, and then turns to look at Tristan, who called out to him. "Landing?" He laughs again, attempting to push to his feet, but stumbling back onto his butt. "Huh." He furrows his brow a little, then just laughs once more. "Landing's my specialty, Trist." And he waggles his cybernetic fingers at his brother. Yeah. He's high.

Chiron gives Keanen a confused smile. "Lord Keanen, nice to see you again." He gives his sister a confused and worried look. "What's stopping you? No inspiration?" He says, slightly confused. Usually his sister has no problems writing, or so he thinks. He looks to Tristan. "I'm doing well today. Enjoying the time I have free until my thirteen hours of chores I'll have to do soon as a squire." He chuckles slightly.

"Thirteen hours of chores. I remember those days. Enjoy it." Spoken a bit lightly as Tristan offers a grin to Chiron, before he shakes his head at Keanen, smiling to his younger brother although there's something in his eyes as he sees the obvious high. "I saw that. At least you land better than Brennart do…"

Lorelei pointedly ignores Keanen. She'll shrug softly at Chiron, "Not really feeling the romantic vibe. Hard to write about love that way." She'll roll her eyes at Michael's description of squiring, "13 hours…he'd have no time to do anything." Loree snorts softly at Tristan's joke about Brennart, but still doesn't look at Keanen.

Keanen looks around him on the grass, finding the apple, and taking a loud crunchy bite. He looks back at his brother and the two Queltons. "Hi Loree," he says, a playful kind of flirtatiousness to it. Then he nods at Chiron, "Who's the dud?"

"The 'dud', is Chiron, Lord Keanen." Chiron says, crossing his arms. He doesn't look particularly amused. "I'm guessing you also don't remember me." He smiles slightly at Keanen, slightly amused. He looks over to his sister, frowning slightly. "I see… That would make things difficult." He scratches the back of his head, not wanting to continue that conversation any further. "I was mostly poking fun at another squire I talked to, who claimed to have thirteen hours of chores before training and other squirely duties. Yet somehow he still had time to spend an hour eating at Motts." He says, laughing.

Tristan chuckles a little as he hears that. "Well, not even Sir Alwyn gave me that much time with chores," he remarks, with a bit of a grin, before he alooks between the others for now, just offering them a grin as he listens now.

Lorelei's jaw tightens, her voice controlled, "Lord Keanen." Turning back to the other two, "Michael was being melodramatic. And even if not, he just is slow then at taking care of horses then. You'll do fine, Chiron."

Keanen tilts his head a bit, "Chiron? Wait…" He laughs, "You're like, Loree's brother or whatever." He smiles, "Awesome." He looks at Tristan, "That's Loree's brother."

Chiron nods to Keanen, smiling. "Very good, Lord Keanen. I am in fact Lorelei's brother." His arms return to his side and he leans on the tree, being careful to keep his sister in the circle. "The few times I've met Michael he's been over dramatic in everything. Either that or else his knight works him too hard…" He chuckles and looks at his sister. "I have no doubts about that, the hardest part was finding a knight to squire me."

Tristan chuckles, as he nods a little bit at Keanen. "I know, Keanen," he replies to his brother, before he offers a brief grin to Chiron. "Hey, if I made it through, you can too." Another brief pause, before he adds, "If I'd felt comfortable about taking on a squire, I would have."

Lorelei goes back to ignoring Keanen, which is kinda not like her. "Michael's….yeah. I'm just hoping this new girlfriend of his calms him down." She'll grin softly at Chir, "Well, I like to think you held out for the best, Sir Agnes is going to be amazing. You're going to be amazing." Reaching over, she'll give his lag a quick pat from her sitting position. Looking up at Tristan an tilting her head, "Why wouldn't you feel comfortable?I think you'd be wonderful at it."

Keanen pushes up to his feet then, swaying a little, using the tree to steady himself. "Whoah. Heh. Cool." Then he smiles, and he turns, swaggering his way off toward the exit to the garden.

"Leaving so soon, Lord Keanen?" Chiron says, tilting his head to the side. "You are welcome to stay, you know. You're company is quite welcome." He looks at Tristan. "Thank you, that does mean a lot. For the record I agree with my sister. You should squire her!" He exclaims, giving his sister a wink.

"Take care, Keanen." There's a bit of a worried look in Keanen's direction, but then Tristan focuses back on the others, before he shrugs a little bit. "I've never been much of a people person, so having a squire around would be… I don't know, a bit uncomfortable, I guess. But thanks."

Giving Chiron a slightly dirty look about calling Keanen back, she'll begin frowning at Tristan as well. "You couldn't find one person that was ok enough to be around?" Glancing back to the direction Keanen went, Loree quietly asks,"Aren't you going to do something?" She's clearly still talking to Tristan.

Keanen doesn't look back, he does stumble a little, laugh, and then just hold his hand up, "I'm okay!" And with that, he slips out of the gardens.

Chiron watches Keanen stumble away, he frowns and looks at Tristan. "I hope I'm not out of place when I say this, but someone needs to talk to that boy. He's… lost, for lack of a better word." He looks to his sister, then back to Tristan. "What is it about people seem to bother you?"

"I'm not really sure if it would help…" Tristan replies to Lorelei with a bit of a sigh, watching Keanen stumble off. "And you're right, Chiron," he offers, before he adds, "I don't know who the right person for doing that is, though. We've all tried." A brief pause again, before he adds, "I'm not sure if there's something wrong with people, or if it's just that I prefer the solitude very often."

Lorelei puffs up, giving Tristan an annoyed look. "Then you need to try again. He's…he's not ok." Loree swallows nervously, "He….he's broken, and everyone is letting him be broken. Letting him get stoned, injecting himself….He's drowning right in front of you all…and no one is doing anything." Loree drops her eyes, her cheeks flushing, as she starts to stand.
Chiron listens to Lorelei, letting her finish. He nods, as she speaks, then looks to Tristan. "I don't know what the correct action is either, Lord Tristan, but I do know that the incorrect answer is doing nothing." He is silent, for a second, scratching the back of his head, seriously considering if he might regret what he is about to suggest. "If you want, perhaps I could talk to him?"

Tristan sighs a bit as he listens, nodding a little now. "I guess you're right…" Another brief pause as he hears Chiron, he nods a bit. "Perhaps that's a good idea, yes."

Lorelei narrows her eyes again, anger flashing across then. "Lord Tristan! He's your brother!" Her lips purse and she'll look down, trying to smooth out her skirt. Not happy with the situation at all,Loree looks up at Tristan "If this was happening to Bey, the Six themselves wouldn't be able to stop Chiron or I from getting through to him and helping." Loree's usually better able to keep a lid on her anger, but with what Keanen said to her last, she's rather upset.

Chiron frowns a bit as Lorelei speaks, and begins to shrink away lightly, afraid of Tristan's wrath. When she finishes he replies. "Perhaps the best course of action isn't an aggressive one, but a gentle, firm hand to guide him. Perhaps a nice chat might help?" He moves over closer to his sister, wrapping an arm around around her, whispering in her ear. "It might not be the best course of action to be yelling at a noble?"

Pausing for a few moments as he hears the angry words, Tristan keeps quiet for a long while, taking a few deep breaths. "I'll talk with him," he says, after a few more moments, before he adds, "I'm just not sure about how to do it, but I'll figure out a way."

Lorelei stiffens at Chiron's words whispered in her ear, and she'll turn, snapping, "I'm not yelling." Well, only kinda. Eyes going to Tristan, softening only slightly, "Figure it out. Or he's going to end up dead in a gutter." Appreantly not sleeping is making Loree more blunt as well. She'll look back to Chiron, "It's not about being a Noble…It's about being a brother."

Chiron gives Tristan an apologetic look, then looks back to his sister. His arm brings Lorelei closer to him, "Sparrow, you made your point. It's up to Lord Tristan now to do his part. I'm sure he can do it." He says, calmly. "Not everything can be solved by yelling or giant swords." He gives her a smile, then again, looks back at Tristan, "If you want some help I am more then willing to assist in any way I can."

"I'll do whatever I can, Lorelei, believe me," Tristan replies, offering her a quiet smile, before he adds, "But thanks for pointing it out." Spoken quietly, there's no anger in his words, before he nods a little at Chiron. "I'm not sure how the best way for you to assist is, but I'd be grateful for any help…"

It takes Loree a moment, but Chiron can feel her relax slightly. She'll nod to Tristan, her eyes softening more and she'll give him a very small , almost apologetic smile. Loree leans into chiron , looking more tired than she did when Tirstan first walked up.

Chiron gives Tristan a smile, "Give it some thought, then come see me. If you want we can just go over how, or I can be there with you. Alternatively, you may want to make it a family thing. It /is/ something that needs to be dealt with, however. Not only is your brother hurting himself, but if word gets out exactly /what/ he's doing, it'll look bad on the Arboren name." He gives Tristan a slight frown, the truth sucks sometimes. He looks back to Lorelei, "Hey, lets get you home. You're about ready to pass out." He pulls her back up off him, taking her hand. and pulling her towards home. "It was nice talking to you, Lord Tristan." He smiles, "We should talk soon, lunch at Motts, maybe?"

"I know…" Tristan offers a quiet sigh, before he adds, "But right now you should get her home so she can rest…" This is offered to Chiron, before he adds a grin. "And lunch at Motts sounds like a good idea." Offering a quiet smile to Lorelei as well. "Get some rest. Who could get through that thick skull of mine if you pass out, hmm?" There's concern in his expression too at the moment.

Lorelei frowns at her brother, "I don't want to sleep." Now she sounds like Taryn, but allows Chiron to start to lead her away. She'll give Tristan a smile at his tease, "Oh…I'm sure you'd be happy if I left you alone." And she'll follow her brother out, a hand doing up to stifle a yawn.
