Infirmary — Volkan, The Crescent
The Infirmary of the Volkan Barracks is bright, clean, and sterile; the complete antithesis of the world above. There is a general care ward, with moveable beds in small alcoves, only granted privacy by curtains on cuved metal rods. Equipment sits in each unit for emergency treatment, and some long care treatment.

There is a surgical unit down the western hall, with three bays, for handling urgent care of soldiers severely wounded. A recovery area is at the end of the hall. Down the eastern hallway are several dogs, each leading to one of a dozen long-term care rooms. Every room is furnished with two beds and a few chairs, a bathroom, nightstands, and connections for specific equipment depending on the needs of the patient.

Rook is sitting up in her bed in the infirmary, one of the private rooms. She has an few tubes and such still attached to her, but at least she's no longer requiring oxygen. She has a datapad in her hand, loaned to her by Lady Devon Grantham nee Volen, and her fingers fly over the surface as she works on it. She's in what look like some warm, fuzzy, pajamas.

Lincoln has yet to vist her, unsure what to do. Sighing softly, outside her door, he'll straighten his vest, over his loose shirt, those coorded necklaces still around his neck, a few silver rings on his fingers. after a deep breath and a crack of his neck, he'll knock on the doorframe, not wanting to enter without permission, but wanting her to see who it is. A tilt of the head and a small smile, "hey, how's it going?"

Rook looks over at the knock and gives Lincoln one of her tiny smiles, which on anyone else would be a huge grin. "Hey. Going.weird. You ok?" she asks, beckoning him inside with a hand.

Lincoln steps in, trying to keep a calm demeanor. Him being nervous isn't gonna help. A small frown does appears, looking at the tubes going into her, "So…what's going on?" Nitrim didn't explain any of this. Just something else to add to the list. He'll walk the rest of the way in and sit down int eh chair next to her bed. Even with his nerves, there's gracefulness to his movements. One that she'll now identify with the higher up paid whores.

Rook sets the datapad aside. "Decided to quit Red-Eye. Was stupid. Tried to go cold. Had small heart attack." She shrugs. "Lady Devon helping me get off it slower. Nysa was addict. Onn it since before I was born."

The frown now reaches Linc's eyes as he relooks at the tubbing. With a small nod, "I don't think there's such thing as a small heart attack, Ithaca. Nitrim should have told me exactly what was going on." And then those pieces click. Nitrim. Red Eye. Linc's gonna kill him. A small smile, "Well…how's the weaning going then?" He'll search her face, realizing that she was exhibiting the signs, he just wasn't wanting to notice them.

"Good. I'll be out in a few more days. Been bored. Really bored. And wasn't Nitrim's news to tell, was mine," Rook points out. "Stop blaming Nitrim for my mistakes."

Lincoln bites back the retort that sprints to his tongue about how at least Nitrim called him. His jaw does visible clench though. "Great, well then." He'll wipe his hands on the tight pants he's wearing. "I'm glad to see you have a data pad." His face is hard to read, "I just left a meeting today. Apparently you're MIA, and Luthcorp is getting ready to send out people to track you down. He wasn't happy." He'll betray his own demeanor by running hand through his hair, and his leg starts bouncing. "I told Johnny Lucian that you'd contact whoever you needed to. To not send out anyone to track you down or //handle // you." It's hard to tell if he's scared, or pissed. Or both. "Fuck, Ithaca. Do you work for him, or are you indebted?"

"Got this 10 minutes ago," Rook notes, lifting the datapad. Thus why she hasn't contacted anyone whatsoever. "Had to watch daytime holotv." The HORROR. "Will let them was in hospital." She taps on the pad to send the message now. His other question has her grimacing. "Indebted. Nysa's debts. My debts. Why I want off the Red-Eye," she explains.

Lincoln seems to be struggling with what exactly to say. he wants to be sympathetic. He wants to be mad at her. Can he be both? he's never had a sibling before, is this normal? Swallow, he'll look down to his hands, twisting a ring, deciding to go up the middle,"How much is the debt?"

"A lot," That's the best answer she can provide. Nysa had debt long before Rook was born, and she inherited it, along with her mother's Red-Eye habit which put her further in the hole. "Working on it." She has been for a bit, with Nitrim providing the Red-Eye for a while that she needed, so she'd have the extra money to pay the debt down some. "You?" she asks.

Another realization sinks in on Linc, and he'll close his eyes. He just go out of this! "I..uh…no. I paid of Mom's hospital bills 2 years ago. Ren's decent to me." A deep breath, and he'll look up, "Ok, well. We'll start working on it. Lucian knows I'm connected to you. Not gonna take long to connect the dots." Family debts are family debts. He'll lean back in the uncomfortable chair, but at least his leg's stopped bouncing. "You missed a really awkward meeting with gentleman johnny, some chic names Nora, and Ren and I.' he's trying to move the conversation forward, hoping he'll not have to make her feel guilty over the debt thing. it's not her fault.

One benefit (or drawback depending) of having Rook as your sister, she doesn't really do the whole guilt thing. She's painfully practical and logical in a lot of ways. "Not your problem, Linc. But thank you." She smiles again, a little warmer this time. "Just pirated Perfidious from Infosphere, want to watch with me?" she offers, tapping on the datapad to send it to the holoscreen.

Lincoln tits his head, and then lets out a soft laugh, "No, Ithaca. It is my problem. If you're indebted, and I'm kin to you….it doesn't just pass to kids. When they connect that we're blood related, I'll owe them as well." He really doesn't want her to be upset over this. He searched her out(oh! He can hear Ren telling him an "I told you so" again over this), made the connection, in a sense, brought this upon himself. He'll shift some in the seat, it's just not a comfy seat. Linc hates hospital type places…"Sure, I don't have any jobs lined up tonight." In fact, the chair is uncomfortable enough he'll finally give up sitting normal and pull his legs up , one knee high, the other leg bend underneath him. He looks rather like a pretzel, but comfy now. his dark eyes go to the holoscreen.

Rook starts the movie, and she holds her un-IV-tethered arm out to grab her brother's hand, just for that little bit of contact. She is content to watch then in silence.
