Being the second child and eldest daughter of the High Lord and Lady of the Ring, Rozlyn Javreal Orelle was assured an illustrious and beneficial life from the start. Which was fortunate, because she proved quickly to be a very strong-willed and intelligent child.
On top of the usual tutoring, she often sought out studies on her own. Often this would involve venturing out onto the Infosphere and finding new topics of interest. These oft included things of an experimental or theoretical nature. She studied many scientists who sought understanding of the unknown.
To be certain, she followed much of the training required by House and station, but the more martial inclinations where never of much interest to her. She primarily enjoyed unarmed combat, liking losing herself in the primal feel of it. She often can be found practising as a way to clear her mind and think.
Roz was a very insular child. She preferred the company of books to people. Often she would cause rustled feathers at more official functions, being prone to speak bluntly (rather than sugarcoat her words as many nobles will.) This continued, with her being a fairly lonely sort, until Cedric showed himself to be a good companion. It took a few years for her to realize it, as despite his younger age not being that great, she brushed him off. He seemed more physically inclined (football, really?) than anything else.
However, she doted on him and found a tender fondness that grew into having someone to confide in. His sudden marriage to the girl he knocked up (tut tut, Cedric) matured him rapidly and she found a kindred soul at times. Certainly the two were quite different in their own ways, but siblings will be siblings.
Her own trials during teenage years were dealing with convincing fellow scholars that she was ready to begin research of her own. While sharp minds are not uncommon in the Ring, one still usually expects an individual to be older than sixteen before picking up such things as theoretical physics.
In the end, she found she had to spend most of this time spent working on her own. Seeking out papers on the Infosphere to inspire topics of her own. Most often, she just wrote out essays that were her own thought puzzles, building off of work that was already out there.
Roz finally found a lab willing to take her. While she hopes it was her own accomplishments that did it, it was in truth her father that requested the placement. She did serve primarily as an intern during that time- spending more time running to and fro for the seasoned researchers than on any projects herself.
She did attend the satellite school on the Ring once she was sixteen, dividing her time between her studies and working in the lab. Multiple venues of study lead to her degrees within Mathematics and Physics. She has since, for her work, gained supplementary degrees in Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics.
She earned her own lab only in recent years, due to breakthroughs in her studies of black holes and how they could be used to benefit the people of Haven. It is a small, but dedicated team. They haven't much space; only needing larger machines and the like on rare basis.
The days for Rozlyn are, by her own machinations, busy and long. She's found little time over the past few years for friends and family. As mild pressure comes down the line to help populate future generations, she has been setting to work a series of tests and studies. Rather than choosing a husband, she is working on finding the best donor so that she can have a child of her own, without needing to wed.
She's still unsure how her parents feel about such a decision, but hopes they will come to see it as she will. Doing her duty, without letting her work (or another person's life) suffer. This way, she can find the strongest genetic material, to ensure future generates of Orelle are better and stronger.
